id29 Principal Begins Intense Spring Training Regimen

Michael Fallone, co-founder and Principal of id29, has ended a rare multi-week period of being off the bike. Saying, “I’m slow, I’m sluggish, I have hair on my legs and I gotta change that,” Fallone has once again been spotted on the roads of Upstate NY, powering his beloved Seven Axiom in the wee morning hours. An early winter broken hand has derailed his plans to win every Spring Classic, but his children have officially proclaimed “Daddy’s wearing his bike costume again!” and he’s determined to regain the form he’s shown in previous years. Allez, Michael!

Luddy and Kahrs Join id29 Posse

Kevin Luddy and Bryan Kahrs are now part of our team.

Kevin is our first account executive. He has a history of orchestrating seemingly impossible tasks and a penchant for making great things happen with a serious entrepreneurial, strategic and managerial box of tricks. His youthful appearance belies his superior intelligence and dogged resourcefulness. Kevin’s an RPI grad. He started, helped to start, and/or furthered the success of a number of firms and events including Goodship Research & Consulting, Vidvox and EMPAC.

Enter Bryan Kahrs – our new Senior Designer. Most recently he was droppin’ mad skills at Euro RSCG-Magnet, focusing on corporate branding for the likes of Nikon, Jet Blue, and health guru Andrew Weil, M.D. Prior to that, Bryan was the Head Designer at Sotheby’s, making all kinds of beautiful crazy catalogues full of stuff we can’t afford. Bryan is a photographer, a t-shirt tycoon (tmlovesyou.com) and he looks taller than he is.

We’re really proud to have two such incredible people working for our clients and us.
Onward and upward!

id29 builds relationship with MapInfo

We’ve had the opportunity to partner with a number of clients who call Troy home: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy Pub and Uncle Sam Brewery, Orca Gear and – virtually from day one – MapInfo Corporation.

MapInfo's vision is to enable every business and government – worldwide – to harness the power of location. id29's recent work for MapInfo has ranged from tradeshow booth imagery to external presentation materials.

According to Renée Taliana, MapInfo’s Production Manager of Corporate Marketing, "id29 has invested the time to learn to work within the MapInfo brand, while at the same time advising us of new ways to grow and expand our international brand identity. We’ve only worked with Doug and Michael for a few months now, but it’s clear that their creative and design work is strong competition to any other shop in this region. I'm excited to see what they can do for us over the long-term.”

Thanks, Renée. We’re looking forward to the future as well!

Of T-shirts, Ales and Empires

id29 Launches Brown’s Brewing Company’s Regional Expansion

It began with a t-shirt that we sent to Garrett Brown, a Troy NY-based, renown pioneer of craft brewing. It will end with a sustainable empire of malt, hops, water and yeast that encompasses Western New England and New York. That’s the plan at least, and we’ve gotten off to a great start.

Compelled by a T-shirt and the buzz we created around our launch earlier this year, Garrett Brown knocked on our door – a man with a vision to dramatically expand the distribution of his award-winning, incredibly tasty ales and lagers. he willingly admitted that he needed assistance to get there. Within hours he asked us to partner with him over the long haul.

Little more than 4 months later, we’ve developed the assets that Brown’s Brewing Co. needs to do some damage in the world of beer: A completely new, cohesive, compelling, memorable brand identity, a strategic plan and a tactical roadmap to make it all work.

Join us as we change the world one pint at a time.

What’s He Building In There? The id29 Story Begins.

If we do say so ourselves, id29’s February 5th grand opening gala was rather impressive. Props go out to all of you who showed up. Garry Brown’s Troy Pub & Uncle Sam Brewery provided thirty-odd gallons of fine ale. Mezze (Williamstown, MA) dished up the tasty treats. Disco lights, disembodies heads and strange sounds in the water closet disturbed some, but most endured a few absurdities by throwing back another pint, engaging in lively conversation, hugging the person closest to them or uneasily joking about how strange we are.

So – what is he building in there? Trust us, you really don’t want to know.

We’ve chosen id29 as our sole design and marketing partner based on the incredible things Doug Bartow did with MASS MoCA over the past nine years. id29 is working with us to articulate our vision and convey that message locally, nationally and internationally.”

Flaming puppets: Friend or Foe?

In a well-orchestrated maneuver, thousands of frantic purple flaming puppets have penetrated corporate security systems and found their way into the offices of many important executives across the nation. The funny looking little fellows with heads all ablaze were first spotted on January 13, 2004 but no one’s really sure where they came from or what they were looking for. The President the Brotherhood of Combustible Thespians offered a blank stare but no verbal explanation. One marketing executive at a prominent Northeast brewery said “I got back to the office and, uh... there he was at my desk. At first I was a bit scared by the flames and by his eyes – I didn’t know which one to look at.  But, we talked for a while and after I got to know him, I offered him a bowl of hot chicken soup and some nougat. I can say that I like that puppet. Yeah, I do.”

Great finds
